Art has always been a part of my soul. I am the daughter of an artist and the mother to one, and have done some form of art for as long as I can remember. I have concentrated on working in watercolor for the past twenty years, and have studied with many modern-day masters in the medium. My work reflects a love of color and light, and my subjects depict things from my journey through life. Painting portraits and figures is both a challenge and a pleasure. Satisfaction comes from capturing a personality or portraying a moment in time. I employ different painting styles in my portraits, based on mood or subject matter. I owe a great deal of thanks to my mentor, Janet Rogers, AWS. I am a signature member and Secretary for the Florida Watercolor Society, and a past Board member for Central Florida Watercolor Society. In 2019, I was honored to be juried into membership with the Whiskey Painters of America, a miniature watercolor painting society.
I was always the kid/adult who couldn’t draw, didn’t even like to try. However, in preparation for retirement, I started taking lessons, first drawing and then Chinese painting. I was lucky enough to find teachers who were demanding but kind and gentle. When I moved to Mount Dora, I began studying watercolor with Jackii Molsick who continued my streak with great teachers. Watercolor has always been my favorite art form and with my new background in drawing, I have been able to combine realistic and abstract styles.
